It’s been a busy summer for us. Here’s a quick rundown on what we’ve been doing.
Reveal 3
Our big news is the release of version 3 of Reveal. Although the Reveal HTML5 user interface is mostly unchanged, we have worked hard to improve the system from end to end, keeping ease of use as our primary focus. Some key highlights:
- Faster video processing
- More responsive user interface with real-time updates
- Improved overall system stability
- Custom tags
- REST API
Visa Women’s Ski Jumping
Insight Replay in now a supplier and partner with the Visa Women’s Ski Jumping Team. Led by head coach Alan Alborn, the team has been using their Reveal system all summer as they’ve trained on at Utah Olympic Park in Park City and in the wind tunnel. Feedback from athletes and coaches has been fantastic. They have seamlessly incorporated immediate video feedback into their training routine so that now athletes are able to review each jump twice before their next jump with no interruption to their practice flow. Athletes review on iPads once at the bottom as soon as they take of their skis and then again at the top just before they step onto the ramp.
Speed Camp in Mammoth
In May, we spent a couple of days working with the US Ski Team in Mammoth. Both the men’s development team and the women’s speed team were there taking advantage of the mid-winter conditions. We shoot video of the skiers in the upper section and middle section of the SG course. Video of each athlete was on the coaches iPad before they reached the finish line. This gave the coaches an opportunity to review the run and direct the athletes attention on what mattered most for each athlete.
High School Football
We’ve always knew that Reveal would be a great for football teams, and high school football teams in particular. Being able to show kids video of what they just did is an incredibly powerful coaching tool, both in game situations and on the practice field. We are excited to be working with several high school football teams and their response has been terrific. In practice, teams are using Reveal to correct technique and reinforce proper skill development.
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) recently updated NFHS Football Rule 1.6.1.2 to permit the use of live video during games. Teams using Reveal are able to quickly review plays on iPads, allowing them to make adjustments between plays. They also use Reveal to mark key plays and then take deeper dive with team at half time.
